Led by singer songwriter Mark Hegarty (Hegsy) Hegsy and The Elements are based in Cardiff.
Musically the sound combines the honesty of country, the tradition of Irish folk, Welsh Gospel and Americana fused together with big choruses rich in harmonies creating a distinctive accessible sound.
Lyrically songs are wholesome, passionate, inspired and relatable with optimism to share and unite.
The single ‘The Apple of My Eye’ has become an anthem of Parental Alienation Awareness, with a video collating affected parents, grand parents and children from all over the world receiving global radio airplay. Hegsy performed on Downing Street in London in April 2019 to support International Parental Alienation Day.
In April 2016 Hegsy and The Elements played 24 concerts in 24 hospitals in 5 days to raise awareness and support for Cystic Fibrosis. The tour culminated with in a finale performance with Louise Ryan Vocal School – former students include Charlotte Church, Luke Evans and Lucy Jones.
Hot on the heels of the EP “The Rumble”, the new album “My Truths” was produced by Al Steele (The Korgis) at Shabby Road Studios. The Album solidifies the distinctive sound incorporating influences from artists such as John Mellencamp, Elton John, Hothouse Flowers, Elvis, Robert Palmer, Lucinda Williams, Bruce Springsteen and The Alarm.
The Album includes the singles ‘Change You’, ‘My Country’ recorded with a Male Voice Choir, and ‘The Apple of My Eye’. It also includes ‘Slave To Fortune’ collaboration with Louise Ryan Vocal School which melts the hardest heart.
