Mark “Hegsy” Hegarty – a humanitarian leader and vocalist of Hegsy and the Elements – has experienced a rebirth of purpose.
Having enjoyed decades in the entertainment world, a dark and desperate corner in his life initiated a realisation that his music could hold a greater purpose: to support those seeking self-worth and genuine self-empowered change. His Celtic/Americana-inspired songs, fused with his newfound passion of choral energy, has led him on a musical journey of discovery, working with an extraordinarily diverse range of choirs including Wales’ oldest traditional male voice choir, a Methodist community choir and the highly acclaimed Louise Ryan Vocal School.
Inspired by the reception they received, he is presently supporting a choral project led by The Matisko World Orphan Choir in Liberia and, a choir of 100 female voices from across the world supporting those who have suffered abuse to express and understand their experiences in a safe, creative and open environment.
Mark is unsure where this voyage will take him. What Mark does understand is his liberation from the trappings of ambition and ego. He is undertaking a journey of love, mutual cultural understanding, and respect.
A collaborator recently wrote: ‘[Mark’s] passion, and his love for people, is almost as great as his passion for music. Mark you are an incredible individual’.
Hegsy and the Elements invite you to experience, and to mould their remarkable journey. Come and sing with us.
